The role of higher education in supporting enterprise
Work in progress
Higher education institutions have a strategically important role to play in our economy. They are the centres of research excellence, the intellectual factories which turn out the UK’s most valuable export (its high skilled people) and they are anchored in a place, often with decades if not centuries of history. But their role in supporting enterprise and business growth is not well enough known.
With the concept of ‘place’ taking on ever increasing economic importance with our political elite, this project will explore the role higher education institutes have in support enterprise, in growing start-ups and educating their own students on business growth and development.
