Honours bestowed on local government officers and members

Council chief executives, councillors, housing bosses and community sector leaders have been acknowledged in the New Year’s honour list.
Cllr Peter Jones, leader of East Sussex CC became a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire), an accolade which was also bestowed on former Hertfordshire CC chief executive, Caroline Tapster.
Jane Todd, chief executive of Nottingham City Council received an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire), as did Sharon Taylor, leader of Stevenage BC and deputy chair of the Local Government Association and Ian Greenwood – lately leader of Bradford City Council.
Other senior council officials to receive an OBE include Roger Kelly, the former chief executive of Gateshead Council and Katherine Gilcreest, Anti-Social Behaviour Manager at Brentwood BC.
Anthony Pidgeley, chairman of the Berkeley Group and Peter Ruback, deputy director for the housing revenue account and decent homes programme at the DCLG received CBEs for services to the housing sector and community
Local government minister Baroness Hanham said: ‘I am delighted to see colleagues in local government being honoured. It’s testament to their services to the local community that their hard work, dedication and achievements have been recognised this way.’
