London NHS devolution pilots just the start, says think tank Localis

Responding to the announcement of “the start of London NHS devolution”, Alex Thomson, Chief Executive of Localis, the leading local government think tank, said:
‘These pilots announced today should be welcomed, particularly the development of an Accountable Care Organisation with a focus on prevention in three east London boroughs. And importantly, these pilots are just the start of a process of devolution. As these pilots prove that more locally-focused healthcare services can improve patient outcomes and enhance efficiency, we expect other powers will be released to the rest of London.’
