Report Launch: The Next LEPs
Unlocking growth across our localities
Author: Localis |
Rt Hon Oliver Letwin MP, Minister for Government Policy, launched our new report on the future of Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs).
You can read more about the report here.
The launch took place in the Churchill Room, House of Commons on Monday 2nd March. The Minister’s keynote speech was followed by a panel debate on the future of LEPs in the next parliament with special guests:
- Clive Betts MP, Chair of the CLG Select Committee
- Lord Shipley, Liberal Democrat peer and Government Cities Adviser
- Cllr Philip Atkins, Leader of Staffordshire County Council
- Mike Blackburn, Chair of Greater Manchester LEP
The report is the culmination of an extensive research project consisting of stakeholder roundtables, an online survey and interviews which, sponsored by Lloyds Banking Group, considers what the next parliament could and should hold for LEPs. In particular it addresses what powers and funding for LEPs will best enable them to help drive economic growth across the country as well as the reciprocal structural reforms needed to bring greater accountability and transparency.
