Draft Empowerment Bill scrapped

The Government has announced that it will no longer be legislating for the remaining provisions as set out in the Communities in Control White Paper. Some of the provisions, such as the Duty to Promote Democracy, are to be found in the LDEDC Bill currently progressing through Parliament, but policies such as legislating to allow remote voting and creating incentives to vote have now been dropped.
