Live discussion: creating value from resident involvement

Localis’ Steven Howell participated in a Guardian online debate about the demonstrating the value of resident involvement to communities and businesses.

The Panel included the following experts:

Neil Euesden is managing director of Pinnacle PSG, part of Pinnacle Regeneration Group. Pinnacle PSG manages 22,500 homes on behalf of local authorities, registered providers and the social divisions of private developers. It also delivers facilities management and 24/7 contact services to 450,000 homes, schools and public spaces nationwide

Matthew Warburton is policy adviser to the Association of Retained Council Housing (Arch), which represents councils in England which have chosen to own housing and manage it themselves

Harj Singh is chief executive of Aldwyck Housing Group which owns, manages and administers over 11,000 properties in the south east and east of England. Aldwyck were overall winners of the East of England Community Impact Awards 2012

Maja Luna Jorgensen is strategic projects manager at the Glass-House Community Led Design, where she champions the value of investing in people and places, and helps to enable great placemaking built on collaboration

Michelle Reid is chief executive of the Tenant Participation Advisory Service. TPAS is committed to the tenant empowerment agenda and works to achieve an inclusive approach to planning and providing services

Alison Inman is the chair of Colchester Borough Homes, an Essex-based Almo that manages properties on behalf of Colchester borough council. She is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing governing board, and former chair of the National Federation of Almos.

Becky Waters is resident engagement manager at Hyde Housing Group. Prior to this Becky has undertaken a number of roles including monitoring its resident engagement strategy, managing the strategic residents group, reviewing and developing resident engagement policies and procedures and has also assisted with Hyde’s resident training programme.

John Paul Maytum is a council tenant and chair of the board of Leathermarket JMB, an inner-London tenant management organisation which runs 1,500 council homes. The JMB is taking resident control forwards with its ground-breaking plans for total financial independence

Pete Robbins is a Lambeth Labour councillor and cabinet member for housing and regeneration

Phil Morgan is a board member for Wulvern Housing and a consultant, commentator and speaker on housing. He was previously chief executive of TPAS
