Councils display appetite for innovation

Localis’ Catalyst Councils report was today referenced in the Financial Times, as part of an article arguing that local government is being innovative in response to the spending challenge.
One of the nation’s longest-serving council leaders [Sir Albert Bore, leader of Birmingham city council] has declared “the end of local government as we have known it”, as the imperatives of austerity force councils into a radical rethink of their relationship with citizens.
