London Councils has singled out managing chronic care, worklessness and anti-social behaviour as key themes for its Total Place-style mapping exercise of the £73.6bn worth of public expenditure in the capital.
PricewaterhouseCoopers has been commissioned to carry out the project and is scheduled to report its findings by the end of the year.
London Councils said the recommendations were expected to include possible changes to legislation, regulation or policy while managing chronic care, worklessness and the social consequences of anti-social behaviour by young people will be scrutinised in further depth.
London Councils corporate director of policy & public affairs, Dick Sorabji, said: “It’s still early days in terms of the audit, but we believe that by looking across all public services we can design local solutions that improve both quality and value for money for Londoners.”
