Making the Most of Public Land

The economic and political pressure for new housing continues to rise and, with government capital budgets slashed, public land is frequently cited as the answer. But it is essential that maximum all-round value is extracted for surplus public assets. This research is looking at how public land – of all sorts – could best be developed in order to meet immediate local needs and support a long-term vision for sustainable communities.

Launched at the MIPIM Conference in Cannes with our partner, Cathedral Group and senior local government colleagues, we will be following up this pamphlet with a full research piece over the course of the summer.

If you would like to speak with us about the development challenges and opportunities that local authorities and other local public services face please, please email us at jack.airey@localis.org.uk.
